About
The Kiln Rooms comprises of four open-access ceramics studios in London, providing space for a range of pottery classes and support for members. What began in 2015 as a small, humble space has since grown into something much larger and more vibrant, thanks to the incredible support of our community of makers and staff. We’re proud to support a thriving network of ceramic enthusiasts, from beginners to seasoned makers!
At the heart of everything we do is our community. We’re more than just a studio; we’re a nurturing, creative space where people come together to share ideas, refine their craft, and support one another. Our community is a place of constant growth and collaboration, where creativity is not just encouraged but celebrated. We offer a wide range of classes for people of all levels, from one-off sessions with plenty of hands on support to 12 week courses during which people have the time to develop their own projects and ideas with help from the teachers and others on the course. We programme regular talks and have two shows a year that showcases the amazing talent within our community. Beyond our studio walls, we are proud supporters of Intoart and FiredUp4, which align with our mission to make pottery more inclusive and accessible to everyone.
Our studios are located in Peckham and Farringdon which are special in their own right. Peckham is where it all began and is a lively, artistic area full of energy and amazing independent places to eat and drink. Farringdon is a fantastic location which offers a dynamic contrast, blending the area’s rich history. We chose these spaces because they both embody the spirit of innovation and community that we strive to foster in our studio.
Our growth wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible team of teachers and technicians. Each person brings a unique set of skills and knowledge but we all share a deep passion for ceramics.
In addition to our skilled team, we pride ourselves on the quality of the equipment provided in the studios. We believe that great equipment is essential to the creative process, and we work hard to keep everything in top condition so that you can focus on your work. We’re also the only pottery in London who employ a qualified electrician to ensure that everything is working smoothly. We’re proud of our kilns and aren’t called The Kiln Rooms for nothing! 😉
Ceramics can be a costly pursuit, which is why we work hard to keep our pricing as affordable and accessible as possible. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to explore their creativity, and we are committed to making that a reality without compromising on the quality of what we offer. Communal equipment and firings enable us to share costs and keep the cost of electricity down.
We are also committed to doing our bit for the environment – our electricity is all renewable and we take great lengths to reclaim our clay. Pottery by nature discourages people using single use cups and tableware and to think about what they make and use.
As the ceramics community in London continues to grow, we are proud to be part of this exciting movement. It’s an incredible time for the craft, and we’re grateful to be contributing to its resurgence. Long may it last—here’s to many more years of creativity, collaboration, and growth!
